Athena II was our first purebred foal. Athena II was the Junior Champion Mare at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center Lipizzan show in 1987. She and Ambrosia also won the "Get of Sire" and "Produce of Dam" classes at that show. The next year Athena II was West Coast High Point halter Mare. Among her wonderful offspring are Asianna and Antiqua by Siglavy Dalea, Artica by Conversano II Pirouetta, Maestoso II Athena II by Maestoso II Primavera, Pluto III Athena II by Pluto III Belvedera, and Adrea and Conversano Athena II by Conversano Mima. At age 21, Athena II delivered her final foal, a filly by Favory Ilka I.
Although Athena II was started under saddle as a 4-year old, we weren't sure how much she remembered 18 years later, so we have restarted her under saddle, and she has taken to her second career with eagerness and the clarity that only a mature horse can have. She is now being ridden in the "Young Horses Group" and will soon graduate to the "Mares Quadrille" and the ranks of the Lesson Horses. At 22 years old, she is amazing us all!
