White Horse Vale is located 2 hours east of Portland Aiport.
Directions From Portland:
Take I-205 North to I-84 East. Follow I-84 East past Hood River and The Dalles. PLEASE NOTE that normally our directions instruct to cross the Columbia River at the Biggs Rapids Bridge/ Highway 97 at Biggs, but this bridge is currently closed for repair, therefore it is important to take the detour route: Take the I-97 DETOUR ROUTE which has you exit off of I-84 at the I-197 Dufur/Bend exit at the East end of The Dalles. At the end of the offramp, turn left and go straight across the river into Dallesport (North). Follow this road until it ends at a T-intersection with Highway 14. Turn right (East) onto Highway 14 which will take you through Wishram. Highway 14 has a Y-intersection with Highway 97 North. Turn left to go North on Highway 97 to Goldendale. I-97 will take you up out of the Gorge and into Goldendale. You can take the 2nd Goldendale Exit which is Simcoe Dr. There is a Gas Station and a McDonald's here, and the QUALITY INN (hotel) is at this intersection. If you take the Simcoe exit, to go to the barn, follow Simcoe West and follow into Goldendale to the end where it T-intersects with North Columbus Ave. Turn right onto N. Columbus and follow through and out of Goldendale. As an alternative, you can take the 3rd Goldendale exit off of Highway 97 which is Broadway. There is a Gas Station and a Subway and Dairy Queen at this corner. Turn left onto Broadway and follow it West into Goldendale. You will pass the PONDEROSA INN (hotel) on your left. Broadway intersects with Columbus Avenue at a 4-way stop intersection (blinking red light). Turn right here to turn onto Columbus Ave. heading North out of Goldendale. Columbus Ave. heads up a hill and passes a cemetary. You will then pass the turnoff for the Observatory. You will see the Golf Course on the left. Take the 2nd Driveway after Golf Course. You will see the WHV White Vinyl fences and the White Horse Vale sign. Turn left into WHV. Follow driveway past house, past first barn (veers right), past pastures/paddocks, and up to to Upper Barn/Arena where you can park and turn around. Trailer parking is on the SOUTH SIDE of the upper barn/indoor arena. Keep following the driveway behind the Indoor arena, and park with the line of trailers.
From Seattle, WA:
Take I-90 SouthEast from Seattle towards Ellensburg. In Ellensburg, take I-82 South to Yakima. In Yakima take I-97 South (Buena Road) to Goldendale. Turn right on Simcoe Dr (McDonalds at exit) into Goldendale. Follow into Goldendale to the end where it T-intersects with North Columbus Ave. Turn right onto N. Columbus and follow through and out of Goldendale. Heads up hill. Passes Cemetary, Passes Observatory. You will see the Golf Course on the left. Take 2nd Driveway after Golf Course.
