The White Horse Vale Broodmare Herd
These are the "broodmares" and "career mares" of the combined herd of White Horse Vale and Ritter Dressage. Unlike other breeds whose mares are most notably characterized as "Mare-ish", Lipizzan mares are noted for their amazing characters, sensibility, and trainability. After all, from where do you think the Lipizzan stallions gain half of their genetics?
Therefore, in addition to training the stallions, we ofen train the mares as well. Many of these mares go on to pursue dressage or driving careers, or make it into the ranks of our lesson horses. The best of these mares return to the breeding shed to produce more Lipizzans of amazing character and trainability. Some of these mares even manage to be "working moms", juggling a dressage or driving career simultaneously with their functions as a broodmare. These mares are amazing!
